Casavecchia alla Piazza is an organic winery located in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Founded in 1989 by Gabriele Buondonno, the estate extends across 12 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 400-450 meters above sea level, benefiting from a cool microclimate that contributes to the freshness and complexity of its wines. I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
