Il Chianti Classico Vigna di Fontalle Riserva “Machiavelli” è un Sangiovese di impostazione tradizionale proveniente dall’area del Chianti Classico, più precisamente dalla zona di San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in un’annata 1997 generalmente calda e matura, che ha dato vini ricchi, pronti e con buona evoluzione nel tempo.
Oggi il vino si presenta in piena fase terziaria avanzata, con un colore granato trasparente e riflessi aranciati tipici dell’età. Al naso emergono profumi eleganti ma evoluti di ciliegia sotto spirito, prugna secca e fragola matura, seguiti da note più complesse di cuoio, tabacco, foglie secche, sottobosco, spezie dolci e una lieve vena balsamica e terrosa che richiama la maturazione del Sangiovese classico. In bocca è più morbido rispetto alla giovinezza, con tannini ormai levigati e una struttura meno vigorosa ma ancora equilibrata, sostenuta da una discreta acidità che mantiene il vino vivo. Il finale è lungo e coerente con il naso, giocato su note di frutta secca, erbe e spezie, con una sensazione generale di fine eleganza evolutiva.
A tavola si abbina molto bene a piatti della tradizione toscana come arrosti, selvaggina in umido, brasati, fegatini, carni bianche strutturate e soprattutto alla cucina con salse saporite e sapidità marcata, ma anche a formaggi stagionati.
