I vigneti che forniscono le uve per la creazione del Fontalloro sono situati nel cuore del Chianti Classico, nella zona elevata di Fèlsina, nonché nella regione del Chianti Colli Senesi, ad altitudini che vanno dai 330 ai 407 metri sopra il livello del mare. Questi vigneti godono principalmente di un'esposizione sud-ovest e si distinguono per la varietà dei terreni: nel Chianti Classico sono caratterizzati da suoli rocciosi e calcarei, mentre lungo il confine con le Crete Senesi sono prevalentemente ricchi di sabbia, limo, piccoli ciottoli e sedimenti marini. Il Fontalloro ha visto la luce per la prima volta nel 1983. Si presenta con un colore rosso rubino di buona intensità e ricchezza tonale. Le sue caratteristiche aromatiche sono complesse, con evidenti note di tabacco, terra bagnata e una sottile suggestione di polvere di terra, accompagnate da sentori di ribes nero, mora e liquirizia. Al gusto, si distingue per una tannicità ben equilibrata e una consistenza mediamente morbida dei tannini. Mostra una buona consistenza, struttura e nobiltà nel retrogusto, con un'eccellente capacità di invecchiamento nelle annate più importanti.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
