E’ un Pinot Nero che porta l'impronta indelebile di un'annata storicamente torrida, traducendosi in un vino di struttura imponente e calore avvolgente. A distanza di oltre vent'anni, si presenta con un colore rubino maturo dai bordi granati e un profilo olfattivo evoluto che ha sostituito la freschezza del frutto primario con note ricche di confettura di prugna, datteri, cuoio, tabacco e spezie dolci come la liquirizia. Al palato, la potenza tipica di Gevrey è amplificata dall'annata calda, offrendo una trama tannica ormai ammorbidita e setosa, una bassa acidità e un sorso rotondo che culmina in un finale lungo e terroso. Vinificato con metodi tradizionali e affinato per quasi due anni in rovere, questo vino ha raggiunto la sua piena maturità e va consumato ora per goderne l'equilibrio tra la concentrazione residua e la complessità terziaria. Si consiglia di servirlo a 17-18°C, possibilmente dopo una breve ossigenazione, abbinandolo a piatti robusti come selvaggina, brasati o formaggi a crosta lavata molto saporiti, rappresentando una testimonianza affascinante di come il terroir di Pierre Gelin possa resistere e trasformarsi anche nelle condizioni climatiche più estreme.
