Nata nel 1991 dalla divisione delle terre di Charles Mortet, padre di Denis, l’omonima tenuta occupa oggi l’insieme delle denominazioni del comune di Gevrey-Chambertin, con una produzione annuale complessiva di 55.000 bottiglie. Le vigne sono vecchie, il terroir è molto caratteristico, le rese sono impeccabilmente controllate e le bacche vengono scrupolosamente selezionate a due riprese. Il risultato sono dei vini dall’eccezionale regolarità. Già divenute mitiche, le bottiglie di Denis continuano ad incantare il palato degli amanti dei grandi vini della Borgogna. 

Il figlio Arnaud ha deciso di portare avanti l’ opera del padre. Brillante vinificatore, ha aggiunto uno suo stile  ai vini, che risultano leggermente meno intensi ma dotati di maggiore eleganza. Non parla di estrazione, bensì di “infusione”, per descrivere uno dei metodi di vinificazione da lui più utilizzato. 

Si tratta  di uno dei gioielli della Côte de Nuits che tutti gli appassionati dei grandi vini dovrebbero assolutamente conoscere

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
