In 1998, the intense sunshine of the summer months following a normal spring favored the early ripening of the bunches, producing Sangiovese and Merlot grapes with superior quality, soft tannins and relatively low levels of acidity.

The first half of October brought heavy rains, fortunately followed by plenty of sunshine and a steady breeze that eliminated any excess humidity. The grapes were brought to vinification in excellent condition, with fully developed aromas and the perfect balance of sugar concentration and acidity.

Powerful and elegant, Luce 1998 exudes tantalizing aromas ranging from wild berries to ripe black cherries, accompanied by delicate notes of pepper and cinnamon. The wine unfolds with soft, sweet tannins and a perfect balance between acidity and alcohol. The finish is sweet and persistent.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
