La tenuta Agricola Punica nasce da una joint venture tra la mitica tenuta San Guido (produttrice del celebre vino Sassicaia), la sarda Cantina di Santadi e il famoso enologo toscano Giacomo Tachis. Le prime vigne vengono acquistate nel 2002. Si tratta di 170 ettari (di cui 65 piantati a vite) suddivisi in due proprietà a Barrua e Narcao, entrambe situate nel sud della Sardegna e appartenenti all'IGT Isola dei Nuraghi. L’assortimento varietale comprende il carignano, il cabernet-sauvignon, il cabernet franc, il merlot e il syrah per i rossi, mentre per i bianchi (5 ettari) troviamo il vermentino e lo chardonnay. La tenuta gode di un clima particolarmente clemente, con inverni miti ed estati calde, secche e ventose.

Questa cuvée è prodotta su un terreno argillo-calcareo profondo e in alcuni punti sabbioso. L'arido calore estivo gli conferisce un carattere unico, con intense note fruttate. Al palato, presenta cenni di liquirizia, frutta secca, erbe aromatiche e tannini eleganti. L’invecchiamento in barrique francesi dona al finale un delicato tocco speziato.

I ordered three bottles, a 1999 French, recently opened, made a great impression.
The other two are a Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda and a Nebbiolo d'Alba Riccheri from Marchesi di Barolo, both from 2015, which I have yet to open but the prospects are excellent.
Shipping and packaging were equally excellent, the Marchesi di Barolo bottle was longer and protruding but I still managed to protect it.
Great prices that you won't find on other similar sites.
I will definitely be back to buy more.
