Recioto della Valpolicella Mezzonella is a historic wine that interprets the Veronese tradition of appassimento with great finesse. Made from the Mezzonella vineyard, one of the historic crus of Valpolicella Classica, this Recioto represents a rare vintage and is now particularly sought after by lovers of mature wines.
Long aging has given the wine a dark garnet color with light amber hues and a rich, layered aromatic profile. The nose reveals aromas of black cherry jam, dates, raisins, dark honey, cocoa, and oriental spices, complemented by delicate, ethereal notes of toasted almonds. The palate is intense and velvety, with an elegant, yet never overpowering sweetness, supported by a pleasant freshness that accompanies the long, lingering finish.
Produced according to traditional Valpolicella methods from the 1970s, when the grapes were still naturally dried in historic drying rooms, the Mezzonella 1973 retains the authentic charm of the great Venetian sipping wines.
